SNP MSP for Falkirk East, Grangemouth Councillor Angus MacDonald has welcomed the recent construction and letting of 12 new build Council flats in Chisholm Place, Grangemouth. The 3 blocks of two-bedroomed flats were built with Scottish Government funding, and are part of a joint funding initiative between Falkirk Council and the Scottish Government which will see 150 more Council flats built in Laurieston, Bainsford, Hallglen and Bo’ness. The Scottish Government provided £25,000 funding per unit from a £25 million scheme.
Welcoming the letting of the new properties, Angus MacDonald MSP, who is also a Grangemouth Councillor and until recently served on Falkirk Council’s Housing Committee said:
“The building of social housing in Grangemouth is very welcome at a time when the waiting list for Council properties stands at around 7,000 in Falkirk district. The SNP Government has enabled local authorities to build Council housing for the first time in decades following constraints by previous Labour and Tory administrations at Holyrood and Westminster.
“The newly re-elected SNP Government is committed to ensuring further provision is given to local authorities to continue building new affordable houses.”
