Wednesday, 16 November 2011 16:01
Transport Scotland together with BEAR Scotland Ltd are currently promoting a Works Contract to resurface the section of the M9 Motorway detailed above. The works are located between Junction 6 and Junction 8 at the M9/M876 for Kincardine, and involve the resurfacing of both lanes 1 and 2 of the northbound carriageway.
The Contractor, Tarmac Ltd, will commence work on 21st November 2011 and the works are programmed to last 12 days. BEAR Scotland Limited will supervise the works on behalf of Transport Scotland.
As with all major road works contracts, there will inevitably be disruption and delays to users of this heavily trafficked route. However, the works are phased to minimise delay.
Two traffic lanes will in operation in each direction at peak times, and a 40mph speed limit will be in place for the safety of the workforce, and the travelling public, throughout the works.
Between Monday and Thursday each week, works will be carried out overnight between 1900 hours and 0700 hours. Traffic will be restricted to two running lanes southbound and one running lane northbound.
Between Friday 25 November at 1900 hours and Monday 28 November at 0700hrs will also require the closure of the northbound off slip road at Junction 7, a signed diversion will be in place via the Junction 9 northbound off slip.
Prior to the works commencing on site, advance information boards will be erected on the M9. Further detailed updates will be provided to the media and it is anticipated that the local radio stations will issue regular traffic bulletins.
As part of the contract, a road surface which reduces traffic noise has been specified, which will hopefully benefit adjacent properties.
