Falkirk East SNP MSP Angus MacDonald has welcomed £2.5million funding that will finance interest free loans to small businesses to help them install renewables technologies.

Energy Minister Fergus Ewing announced the Scottish Government's small business loans scheme which will offer loans of up to £100,000 to help save energy.

Mr MacDonald, SNP MSP for Falkirk East and a member of the Scottish Parliament’s Energy and Economy Committee, said:

“Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) have already benefitted from loans worth £2.5m this past financial year, so this new round of funding brings that total to £5m that has been committed.

“This new funding will help even more SMEs across the country slash their energy bills as well as increase competitiveness.

“The SNP Government is committed to creating a fairer, better and greener Scotland while supporting the economy – exactly what this fund is helping us achieve.

“Not only will those businesses that install small scale renewables technologies have their own green energy supply but they will also qualify to receive payment for supplying electricity to the national grid.

“The SNP is working hard to create a truly low carbon economy to make Scotland a world leader in the fight against carbon emissions.”
