Could £10,000 Help A Local Charity Near You?
Friday, 18 May 2012 09:56
In its 30th anniversary year the Voluntary Action Fund (VAF) is delighted to announce the launch of its new Volunteering Development Grant which offers a small grant of up to £10,000 to charities that want to improve and develop their capacity to involve volunteers.
Established in 1982 to develop volunteering opportunities across Scotland VAF continues to support local charities to involve volunteers in their work. Effective volunteering can be a really powerful tool for delivering vital services to Scottish communities but also bringing substantial benefits to the volunteers themselves and the organisations they work within.
Funded by the Scottish Government, the new grant is targeted at registered charities working within Scotland, who either:
- Do not currently involve volunteers to any significant extent but want to add value to their existing services or develop new ones that can involve volunteers, or
- Already involve volunteers but want improve and develop their capacity to deploy and support volunteers.
Registered charities are encouraged to apply before the deadline of 8 June 2012.
If there is a charity operating in your community that you think could benefit from this injection of funds and support, please encourage them to download an application form and guidance notes from www.vaf.org.uk.
