SCOTTISH Olympic Gold medallist Tim Baillie today announced the latest recommended posting dates for Christmas delivery. Tim, gold medallist in the Men’s canoe slalom double also encouraged people to post early to help Royal Mail spread the workload during its busiest time of the year.

The last posting dates for UK Christmas delivery are:

· First Class - Thursday 20 December

· Second Class - Tuesday 18 December

· Special Delivery - Saturday 22 December

Tim from Westhill, Aberdeen, said: “One of the best things about winning gold this summer was seeing the joy and pride it brought to my family and friends. I’m looking forward to reliving it with them at Christmas card time. Royal Mail did an amazing job of celebrating our Nation’s Olympic success with the gold medal stamps and golden postboxes.

This Christmas I'll be returning the favour and helping make their job easier by posting my Christmas cards early and making sure I use the correct postcode. If you enjoyed the Olympics this summer you should do the same!!"

Gerry McAuley, Royal Mail’s Delivery Director, North and West of Scotland said: “Christmas is the busiest time of year for Royal Mail and our customers. As we do every year, we encourage people to post early, use the postcode and order presents early to help us spread the workload in the run up to Christmas.”

Royal Mail is advising customers wishing to send valuable items to do so using Special Delivery.
