POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION REGARDING GRANGEMOUTH FIRES

Inspector Billy Drummond has contacted Angus MacDonald MSP about their appeal for information regarding two separate fires in the Grangemouth area.

The first occurred on Friday November 16 at 7pm at Carronvale Homes, Wood Street in Grangemouth. In excess of 3000 wheelie bins, worth a five figure sum, were set on fire.

The second incident took place at La Porte Precinct in Grangemouth at 7.30pm on Saturday November 17. Several households were evacuated from flats due to a fire which started in a small food recycling container.

No-one was seriously injured in either incident. Police are treating the fires as suspicious and are keen to speak to anyone who was in these areas around these times.

A Central Scotland Police spokeswoman said:

“We believe both incidents are linked and we urge anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.”

Angus MacDonald commented:

"I am pleased to assist Central Scotland Police by alerting the public to these incidents on my website.

"Inspector Drummond and his team do a fantastic job keeping our community safe, so if you have any information about these fires please contact him without delay."

Anyone with information can contact Central Scotland Police on 01786 456000 or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
