This week sees the announcement of the 2013 People’s Millions programme. This is a grants programme run by the Big Lottery Fund, in partnership with ITV which has been running every year since 2005. To date 523 awards worth over £27.8 million have been made.

Each ITV region airs a presentation from each of the applicants and asks the public vote for the community project they want to receive funding. This year £3.8 million is available to be given out and it is expect that up to £50,000 will be awarded to four projects in each of the 19 ITV regional news areas.

Commenting, Falkirk East MSP, Angus MacDonald said:

“I would encourage local schools and community groups not to miss this opportunity of funding for imaginative community projects that are also of benefit to the environment.

“It also gives STV viewers in Central Scotland the opportunity to participate by voting for local groups or the projects they think are best.

“It is not difficult to apply, simply fill in the simple entry form online at www.peoplesmillions.org.uk  or contact the Big Advice Line on 0845 0 10 11 12. The deadline for applications is 13 May 2013.”
