Falkirk East MSP Angus MacDonald has welcomed the £461.5 million funding for NHS Forth Valley to cover the period 2015-16, announced today by the Scottish Government’s Health Secretary, Shona Robison. In addition Ms Robison announced an £11.8 million uplift for the next year, and an extra £1.6 million to tackle delays in discharging patients from hospital. The total allocation to health boards in Scotland for the year is, for the first time, more than £12 billion.
Welcoming the increase in funding for NHS Forth Valley, Falkirk East MSP Angus MacDonald said:
“The critical work that the NHS does to look after the health of people in Falkirk district is valued incredibly highly by everyone, which is why it is so important that it is resourced as well as it can be.
“This increased investment underlines the SNP’s commitment to protecting the NHS.
“We know there are still pressures on the NHS and this Government is acting to deliver record funding and robust policies needed to support the hardworking and dedicated staff of our NHS.
“Since taking office, the SNP has made protecting the NHS from the damaging cuts being imposed by Westminster one of our top priorities.
“The SNP will always do everything we can to safeguard our NHS because unlike Westminster, we recognise the value of maintaining it as the publicly funded service we value so highly.”
