MSP congratulates this year’s Airth Parish Gardening Award winner
The Member of the Scottish Parliament for Falkirk East, Angus MacDonald, has visited South Alloa horticulturalist David Spowart to congratulate him upon winning this year's Airth Parish Community Council Gardening Award. Pictured above is Mr. MacDonald presenting the trophy shield for the award to Mr. Spowart, by the elegant classical-style fountain in his front garden.
Mr. Spowart remarked, “I was both surprised and delighted when informed that I had won this prestigious gardening prize. I really didn’t expect such an honour. It has taken me well over two years to turn this garden around and I am touched that my work has been recognised by the community around me.”
Commending David Spowart’s horticultural achievement, local MSP Angus MacDonald commented, “Mr. Spowart’s colourful and diverse floral arrangements and ornate landscaping design create a spectacular sight to behold."
"This fine garden in South Alloa is clearly the result of many months of hard graft and diligent stewardship as well as of horticultural acumen and creativity.”
“I heartily congratulate David upon winning the Airth Parish Community Council Gardening Award for the first time and wish him well in his continued gardening endeavours."
Mr. Spowart's MSP, Angus MacDonald, added, "I’d also like to thank David for enriching the beauty of this part of my constituency through an impressive feat of floriculture and groundskeeping, and for encouraging other gardening enthusiasts to follow suit through his example.”
