LOCAL MSP PRAISES ORGANISERS FOR WELL RECEIVED EVENT.
This year’s inaugural Eid in the Park event, held at Callander Park on the 9th July, has drawn praise in Parliament from Falkirk East MSP, Angus MacDonald.
Mr. MacDonald’s motion praised the newly formed Falkirk Muslim Forum, which is the umbrella group focussed on reaching out to the wider district on behalf of Falkirk’s Muslim community, for the event which was, “well thought out, well attended and well received.”
With the success of the event, there have now been calls for Eid in the Park to become an annual event marking the end of Ramadan and the festival of Eid ul-Fitr.
In the motion to Parliament, Mr. MacDonald praised the Falkirk Muslim Forum, and noted that working together with stakeholders across the area, including Falkirk Council, contributed to the overall success of Eid in the Park, and commended the organisers for their efforts.
Commenting on this, the Falkirk East MSP said:
“Eid in the Park was a great event, and a fantastic showing of how diverse our area is. With so much negativity in recent times, it is important to show just how multiculturalism in our communities can help towards community enrichment, and helping our areas to flourish.
“It is also important to consider this event for what it does to promote our Muslim communities within the Falkirk District, and how great an opportunity this type of event is in finding out who our neighbours, colleagues and friends are and what is important to them. I hope to see Eid in the Park become an annual fixture in our diaries that we can all look forward to.”
