SNP MSP FOR FALKIRK EAST CONTINUED HIS CALL FOR FIRST BUS TO GIVE EQUAL TREATMENT IN THE SEASON OF GOODWILL
Highlighting concerns in early 2016, Angus MacDonald MSP who represents Bo’ness in Holyrood, called on First Bus to include bus users in the town in their new ticketing structure so that they would not miss out on the opportunity to save money on a daily or weekly ticket price. First Bus declined to take the suggestions on board which has meant residents in Bo’ness have been left feeling out in the cold.
However, Angus MacDonald has again called on First Bus to take heed and, in the season of goodwill, has encouraged the operator to reconsider including Bo’ness in their ticket pricing structure.
Commenting, Falkirk East MSP Angus MacDonald said:
“At this time of year, when everyone is getting ready for Christmas, many people are thinking about the money they are spending, and whether or not things are affordable. One of the many things that can help out is saving money on your transport costs. That is why I am calling on First Bus to re-evaluate their position, in this Season of Goodwill, to include the residents of Bo’ness in their weekly and daily zonal tickets.
“Not only would this be beneficial to the town of Bo’ness, but First Bus would likely see their passenger numbers rise, and the shops and businesses in the towns outwith would see a rise in footfall, making an altogether positive impact on the local economy. One simple gift to the good people of Bo’ness would certainly give First Bus another chance at being on the public’s nice list this Christmas.
“I would encourage the company to give serious consideration to this, in order to make public transport more affordable and to have a positive impact on both the local economy and the local environment.”
